Fig. 1. An example of the EUV chain revealed by the modified SOHO/EIT images.
One can see pronounced large scale chains in three SOHO/EIT coronal channels. The chains on the 171 (a) and 195 A (b) images are very similar, but there are some differences on the 284 A image (c).
Fig. 2. A comparison of the large-scale chains and threads on the modified SOHO/EIT (195 A) image (inverted) and two He I (10830 A) images (normal).
-- There are large-scale chains and threads coinciding on the EUV image (a) and the He I images (b,c): in particular, the most impressive EUV chain 3-1-4 has clear He I counterparts.
-- Two He I images from the different observatories Kitt Peak (b) and MLSO/HAO (c) display also many other coinciding chains and threads: in particular, the chains 4-1-5, 1-2, as well as the thin thread 4-6 and others.
Several modified movies showing development of the coinciding large-scale chains and threads in this event
The strong evolution of the large-scale magnetic fields on 1-2 June indicated by the dynamics of the chains and threads in the W and SW sectors was followed by a large, bright, loop-like CME with a complicated internal structure in a form of a strongly twisted prominence.
